    The Writing/Directing program is designed to provide students with the storytelling skills that are essential to media content creation.






    In a hands-on approach, Cinematography majors are taught to visualize a movie to provoke an emotional response of the audience, the essence of why people go to see films.




    Writing & Producing


    Creative producers and screenwriters learn to analyze and write screenplays by understanding character, structure and narrative story elements.




    Acting/Directing for the Screen


    CFS is one of the few programs in the world to offer a degree program specifically designed to teach acting for the screen.




    Post Production


    CFS helps prepare students to become great editors that find work and the skills to adapt in the fast-paced, ever changing world of media.






    CFS has industry standard, top-of-the-line cameras, audio equipment, lighting equipment, etc. available for use on student projects.

Congratulations to CFS Alum, Bradley King, for the trailer of his film Time Lapse (2014) being #2 watched behind StarWars on iTunes in April 2015.

Galina Boulgakova and Margaret Norwood just received a five star review from the San Francisco Book Review!

Congratulations to CFS students Jesse Stewart and Alexander Rhodes-Wilmere for their film Mt. Molehill (2014) being a finalist and programmed into The USA Film Festival 2015 in Texas as part of the Student Shorts.

Congratulations to CFS student Martin Long (writer/director) for his film The Vector of Transmission being accepted into the Stanley Film Festival 2015 as part of the Stanley Dean's Cup Student Competition. This was also mentioned on the Daily Dead Horror & Sci-Fi Magazine.

15 students and two community members took home awards from the Fall 2014 student show on December 11, 2014, with prizes totaling more than $3000. See who they were and what they won here.

CFS made the front page of Community College Week! Students use our Virtual Film Studio (tSys) to assist with casting their projects!

Congratulations to CFS Alum David Higgins, who self-released a feature called 'The Aviation Cocktail' on VOD! Several other CFS Alumnus were involved in the project. Check out the trailer and the film itself!

Congratulations to Faculty Jim Tharp for his work on Disneynature's Bears, which opened in theaters on the 18th of April. Jim's official credits include "End Sequence Photography," "Still Photography" and "Field Assistant".

Congratulations to our very own Galina Boulgakova and Margaret Norwood for the publication of their book on April 14, 2014, Sanity in Acting! The book is now available on Amazon!

CFS Alum Laffrey Witbrod shot Mennonite Made up in Estes Park, CO and it aired on the National Geographic Channel on February 18th, 2014.
